Saturday, February 13
Haldi
Accompanied by Traditional Lunch
Mobor Lawns
February 13, 2027
Noon onwards
- What to wear
- Festive but fuss-free. Yellow is the traditional colour, but anything bright and cheerful works, Indian or not: a kurta, a sundress, linen, etc.
- What to expect
- The haldi is a pre-wedding ritual where family and friends take turns applying turmeric paste to the bride and groom, a blessing meant to brighten and protect the couple before the wedding. Expect music, teasing, a lot of laughing, and a traditional lunch afterwards. The rituals start early and run all afternoon, so join in whenever you arrive. It's outdoors, so sunglasses and sunscreen are a good idea.
Sangeet
Followed by Dinner
Grand Banquet Hall
February 13, 2027
7:00 PM onwards
- What to wear
- Your glamorous best. Cocktail dresses, suits, sequins, or Indian wear if you'd like: this is the night to dress up.
- What to expect
- The party before the big day. Sangeet means “singing together” in Sanskrit, and that's the spirit: dinner, a few speeches, and a dance floor we fully intend to close down.
Buddhist Ceremony
Followed by Lunch
Seaside Lawns
February 14, 2027
11:00 AM onwards
- What to wear
- Elegant daywear in soft, light or pastel colours, which is the tradition for this ceremony. Indian traditional or Western wear both work.
- What to expect
- A Buddhist wedding ceremony in the late morning. The couple take refuge in the Buddha, the Dhamma and the Sangha, exchange garlands, and make their vows to each other, with blessings from the elders of both families. Guests sit and watch, and join in the blessings at the end. Lunch follows on the lawns.
Vedic Ceremony
Seaside Lawns
February 14, 2027
4:30 PM onwards
Followed by Dinner & Afterparty
Grand Banquet Hall
8:30 PM onwards
- What to wear
- Your finest traditional wear. Rich colours, sarees, lehengas, sherwanis, kurtas, or formal Western wear if that's more you. Try to stay away from white for this event.
- What to expect
- A Vedic wedding ceremony at sunset, based on Hindu traditions. The couple circle the sacred fire seven times (the Saat Pheras) and take seven vows (the Saptapadi), with a priest leading the rituals in Sanskrit. Guests watch, cheer, and shower the couple with petals. Dinner and the afterparty follow in the Grand Banquet Hall.
